How to Choose a Siding Contractor in Nepean
A practical checklist for comparing written scopes, insurance, materials, timelines and cleanup.
Compare the same scope
Ask each contractor to identify removal, disposal, sheathing review, weather-resistive barrier work, flashing, trim, soffit, fascia and cleanup. A lower total may simply exclude work that another proposal includes.
Use the same list of elevations, openings and related exterior details for every bidder. Mark allowances and unknown conditions separately so they do not look like fixed-price work.
Verify the business and the project process
Request proof of current liability insurance and workers' compensation clearance where applicable. Confirm who will supervise the work, who handles permits when required and how change orders are approved.
References are most useful when the project resembles yours in material, house type and recency. Ask about communication, protection of landscaping and how deficiencies were handled.
Read warranties in two parts
Product warranties and workmanship warranties cover different risks. Ask who registers the product, whether coverage is transferable, what maintenance is required and who is responsible for labour if a product claim is accepted.
Do not rely on a verbal lifetime-warranty statement. Keep the exact product name, colour, installation record and written contractor warranty with the final invoice.
